Author Interview

Steph is an avid simmer, a brilliant writer, and possibly the most lovable out-spoken person I’ve met (besides myself ;)). Get to know a bit more about her below:

 1. So, tell us about yourself but in old school Twitter 140 character format.

Luv games books writing spooky stuff #Sims4 kicks butt Fasin8ed by paranrml Female she/her Single 36 Pagan Overw8 but losing H8 exercise

2. We always hear about why you started writing but now, what keeps you writing?

One word: Nicky! My editor and friend. Pure and simple. Whenever I want to give up, I just picture her in my head with that particular disappointed look that only she can pull off. Also that pfffft scoffing sound she does whenever I say something apparently stupid like “I can’t do it” or “I have no talent”.

3. What would you say is your writing quirk?

I hate writing with pen/pencil and paper. It’s like it’s more tangible that way. If I don’t like something I either have to scratch it out/erase it, which is messy, or toss the page in the bin. I reserve old school methods for journaling, greeting cards, lists, work or letters.

4. What genre would you say is your worst, and why?

I’m sure somewhere above I mentioned I have no talent, right? So I really have no idea. If a gun was to my head, I might have to choose sex (that is a genre on its own isn’t it? hahaha) because I just can’t write a sex scene without it sounding pornographic and embarrassing the crap outta myself when I reread it. Amazingly enough, I can give advice on scenes to others without the same effects.

5. What’s one thing you love about writing?

It’s all about me. No, seriously, my characters, my stories, my weird warped and twisted psychological issues on the page for all to see… wait… the question was what I love about writing… Oops… Basically, I love that I can run with a thought and have it actually mean something. My characters wouldn’t settle for anything less.

6. If you were a character in your favourite genre, who would you be and why?

Gandalf! That wizard kicks some serious butt! He’s so powerful and yet still an old softy when it comes to people he cares about.

7. Was writing something you saw yourself doing as a child?

Yes and no. Yes, it was a dream I had from small because I always had these weird people running in my head asking for their stories to be told. No, because, can’t I just refer you back to Question 1 hahaha? I’m a neurotic mess and I’ve never thought that I would be good enough or creative enough to write.

8. If you could rewrite any book, what would it be and why?

Any book? None. Each book is personal to its author. Who am I to mess with that? That being said… sparkly vampires??? Really?!?

9. Being published is a major step forward so what will you do, now?

The same thing we do every night, Pinky… 10 points to the 90s and 00s kids that pick up that reference. Honestly? I think I’ll just do what I’m doing. Write when/if I feel the urge, and hope for the best if I ever get up the gumption to actually send material out for consideration. Not quite ready to give up my day job just yet. I like being able to eat regular meals hehehe.

10. If you had to ask the person closest to you, what kind of author do they think you are?

A bad one. Or a good one. The person closest to me isn’t one single person. It’s my folks and my BFF. My Dad would think that I’m average since he only has school essays to go on (yeah, I sucked at those!). My Mom would encourage me even if she doesn’t always understand me. And my BFF would tell me I’m good even if I was sucky because she knows that I need the confidence boost and really won’t believe her anyway hahaha.
